Jayme had been more than willing to warm Torque’s bed, but right now he was having second thoughts. The toys lying in the drawer of the night table brought back some unpleasant memories. Jayme picked up a pair of leather cuffs that looked similar to the ones Victor had used on him. Suddenly he was back in Victor’s condo.

Jayme had displeased Victor. He couldn’t remember exactly what he’d done or not done, but Victor had been furious with him. The designer had ordered him to go to his own room and lie on the bed. Jayme had done as he’d been told, and he lay there naked and shivering from fear. Shortly afterward Victor had come in and bound Jayme to the bed posts with wrist and ankle cuffs, leaving him spread-eagled and immobile. Jayme had whimpered as he watched Victor leave the room. Panic had set in as soon as the door slammed shut behind him. Feeling totally abandoned, Jayme imagined the worst-case scenario. What if something happened to Victor?

At that moment, Jayme had hated Victor for leaving him naked and helpless—and alone. Scared and thirsty, his muscles cramping, Jayme had lain there for hours. Time slowed down, while his heartbeat speeded up. The worst part was not being able to use the bathroom. When Jayme couldn’t hold out any longer, he’d wet the bed. After what seemed like an eternity, he’d heard Victor’s footsteps outside the door. Overcome with relief, Jayme had apologized over and over for anything and everything. Victor had laughed at him and called him a baby. Since that day, Jayme couldn’t bear to be restrained and left alone, but his fear didn’t stop Victor from doling out the punishment again and again.

Jayme suspected that his fear of being alone was partially fueled by a fear of being rejected by Victor. The more he wanted to be wanted, the more anxious he became. Jayme had become so dependent on Victor, he’d worried what would become of him if he and Victor split up. Well, now he knew, he told himself. It wasn’t pretty, but he’d come through the worst, and the world didn’t end.

“Jayme?” Torque came up behind him and took the cuffs from his hand. “You okay?”

Flustered, Jayme chewed on his lip. “I’m not really into this stuff.”

Torque dropped the cuffs back into the drawer and shut it. “Okay. No cuffs.”

“Really?” Jayme asked in a disbelieving voice.

Torque folded his arms across his chest and gaped at Jayme. “What do you take me for? I never forced anyone to do anything they didn’t want to do.”

“But I admitted I felt submissive to you.”

“Yeah, I got that. You enjoy being told what to do. I didn’t hear anything about bondage.”

Jayme’s face burned. God, I’m so stupid. Now he’s going to tell me to get lost.

Torque put his arms around Jayme and said softly, “Would you like me to tell you what to do, Jayme?”

Jayme nodded with relief. “Yes.”

“Good boy. I won’t hurt you, but I want you to feel secure.
